Welcome to the WCCS Wheaton College Radio Homepage

..... Like all impressive institutions this day and age, WCCS started small and grew into its greatness. The following is the history of this organization; one that sprang from great minds, common goals, hard work and of course, a love of music.

........In the fall of 1979, a small group of ambitious female students formed a studio in the now non-existent A/V building once located on Wheaton's campus. The station began humbly transmitting on an AM mono carrier cable system. It soon grew in popularity and in 1983 Wheaton College was granted a permit to construct a 150 watt FM transmitter to broadcast on 88.1. However, even though there were federal grants available, the transmitter was never built and the permit was quickly revoked and granted to the Wheeler School in Rhode Island. This would be the first incident in a trend of under-funding for the station.

......WCCS Radio is now in the middle of a massive reorganization and recommitment to making Wheaton radio a staple of the school community and an institution the school can be proud to flaunt. 2007's WCCSFEST featuring State Radio was a huge success and we hope to make 2008's even better, but our main focus is as always on the airwaves. Our Web Radio is finally in good condition (click the huge link above) and we hope to be fixing up our FM broadcast antenna somewhere in the near future (maybe it will actually reach Balfour's radio!) We're always looking for new DJs and staff, so if you'd like to be a part of this awesome group, drop one of us an email.
